Zero results in Canada
The old ESPN BET app id returns nothing in Apple's Canadian store and a 404 on Google Play Canada. The Ontario app is a different listing.

The ESPN BET app still exists, under a new name, in the US store only. In Ontario the same company's regulated app has been live since 2022. Here is how to tell them apart and check it yourself.
There are two apps in this story, and mixing them up is how people end up stuck on a location error. One is the old ESPN BET app, renamed theScore Bet in the US on 1 December 2025. The other is theScore Bet's Ontario app, registered here since 2022. Only the second one is for you.
The ESPN BET app was never in Canadian stores
Apple's Canadian storefront returns zero results for its id, and Google Play answers 404 for its package with the Canadian country code. It was built for US state licences, and since December 2025 it isn't called ESPN BET anywhere.
How to check it yourself
Two public lookups settle it. On 1 November 2026 we ran both:

6463805689withcountry=careturns 0 results. Withcountry=usit returns "theScore Bet Sportsbook Casino", first released on 14 November 2023 — ESPN BET's launch day — and still carrying the bundle namecom.espn.bet. - Google Play: the listing for
com.espn.betanswers 404 withgl=caand 200 withgl=us, where it is titled theScore Bet.
Meanwhile the Ontario apps answer normally in Canada: theScore Bet (bet.thescore.android) and theScore Casino (casino.thescore.android) both return 200 on Google Play Canada.

What's inside the Ontario app
The operator's screenshots give an unusually concrete tour. theScore Bet's sportsbook shows featured matchups, spread/total/moneyline grids, a Parlay Lounge of trending bets, player stats and insights, same-game parlays and profit boosts, plus live streaming that the listing advertises as “over 150,000 live events” for funded accounts. The app links to theScore's news-and-scores app, which is the feature theScore has always led with.
The casino side shows a lobby organised into Saved, Live, Blackjack, Diamond, Slots, Roulette and Game Floor, a Daily Jackpots rail and a Top 10. Titles visible in those screenshots include Dancing Drums (Light & Wonder), Wuji Mines and the exclusive Legendary Larry from PENN's in-house studio, Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Gates of Olympus (Pragmatic Play), Starburst, Cash Volt, Huff N' Lots of Puff, 12 Masks of Fire Drums, and a live theScore Blackjack table run by Evolution with a $50 minimum.
The deposit screen offers online banking ("choose from over 3k+ banks") and Visa or Mastercard debit, with quick buttons for $10, $50, $100 and $200, a Promo Code field and a "Set Responsible Gaming Limits" link beside the amount.
Installing safely
- Use the official store listing, and check the publisher: Score Media and Gaming Inc.
- Never install an APK from a website that calls itself "ESPN Bet Canada". There is no such app, and a sideloaded installer can do anything.
- Turn on location services. Ontario law requires the app to confirm you are in the province before each session; a VPN will get the account restricted.
- Set limits on day one. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are in the account settings, as Ontario rules require.
If you moved from the US
A US ESPN BET account became a theScore Bet US account on 1 December 2025. It stays a US account under US state rules. Ontario needs a new, separate registration, and US balances can't be moved across — withdraw them through the US account.
Bet responsibly, in Ontario
Sports betting is entertainment that costs money. Over time the book keeps a margin on every market, and no promo changes that arithmetic.
- Decide the amount before you start, not during. A limit set mid-session isn't a limit.
- Use the tools the app gives you. Regulated Ontario apps must offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. theScore Bet's own deposit screen carries a "Set Responsible Gaming Limits" link next to the amount buttons.
- Never chase a loss, and never bet borrowed money or money that already has a job.
- Watch the time, not just the balance. Time spent is the earliest warning sign.

Is it safe to install an ESPN Bet APK from a website?
No. An Android installer from outside Google Play is verified by nobody, and a gambling app that isn't offered in a market has no legitimate reason to circulate there as an APK. It may be modified to read your keystrokes or banking notifications.
